Church Strengthening

Church health is one of the greatest concerns of the North American church.  Across our continent many churches are suffering from low morale, declining attendance, frequent staff turnover, and financial struggles.  Even thriving churches frequently find themselves struggling with the challenges of ever expanding ministry.  The GBA offers several resources and training events to assist churches in reaching their maximum potential.

  • Church development conferences and events—The GBA periodically hosts regional training seminars designed to strengthen the program ministries of your church such as Sunday school, women’s ministry, student ministry and VBS.
  • Breakout Groups—These are 75-minute think tank sessions designed to get church leaders from around the area together to discuss key challenges facing ministers and churches today.
  • Vital Signs Checkup (Church Health)—This is a 10-hour discussion based seminar that is adaptable to a variety of settings.  Dr. Banks will facilitate conversation with staff and/or key ministry leadership designed around seven “Vital Signs” of a healthy church.
  • Conflict Resolution—The GBA can proactively assist your church in developing a plan for managing conflict in the church before it occurs.  In addition, we can provide assistance in conflict mediation.
  • One Year Ministry Plans—Designed to help your church begin ministering strategically we will meet in an overnight retreat setting with key ministry leaders in your church to develop a one year ministry plan for your ministries.
  • Strategic Planning Process—Dr. Banks is available to assist in leading your church through a major planning process designed to identify your church’s mission, mission field, values, vision, and a plan for the future.  This process generally takes about six months.
  • Stewardship Planning—The GBA can assist your church in developing an overall stewardship plan to for your ministries.
  • GBA Continuing Education—The GBA offers several continuing education seminars for pastors, staff and ministry leaders.  Some examples are: They Think Differently!--Understanding the Affects of Changing Culture on Ministry, Developing a Stewardship Plan for Your Church, Church Starting 101, Deconflicted—Managing Conflict in the Church, On Purpose Preaching.
  • Demographics—The GBA can assist you in gathering the demographics of your area and communicating the mission needs of your community to the church.
  • Church Presentation—From websites to logos; your church’s presentation communicates a message.  Though we are not graphic artists!  The GBA can assist you in developing a crisp, contemporary presentation for your ministries.
  • The Baptist Feast—It is what it is!  A monthly time of fellowship and eating among our churches.
  • Pastors Prayer Time—Meets at the GBA office Monday mornings from 11:00-11:45 to pray for the needs of our county.
