New Heritage Baptist Church of Sherman, TX is a church where love begins and doesn’t end. It’s been often stated that we’re a happy church, a church where you feel the love walking through the doors. At NHBC, we value Biblical preaching and heartfelt worship. We’re small in number but mighty in the Lord.
New Heritage Baptist Church started out as East Sherman Baptist Church located at the intersection of King and Willow on the east side of Sherman Texas in 1894.
We have experienced 132 years of spiritual growth, outreach and support of ongoing ministries. Over the years the church campus grew to 34,000 square feet.
Sensing the Lord leading us to re-make, re-build, and re-launch, we sold our campus to Grayson Chin Baptist Church on May 5, 2018. The Lord led us to purchase 9.5 acres on Heritage Pkwy and build a new campus on September 17, 2018. East Sherman formally changed our name to New Heritage on March 3, 2019. With the assistance of Volunteer Christian Builders, Forest Avenue Baptist Church, Parkside Baptist Church, our own members, and Bluestone, our new campus was completed the first week of December 2019.
As New Heritage Baptist Church we are a 7-year-old, congregational led, church that has seen its periods of growth, however, as with many churches, since Covid we have experienced a decline in attendance. As of today, we average 40 in attendance each Sunday. The morale of the church has never been more positive. We believe that God is about to do a mighty work in our church and that keeps us excited!
There are many unchurched families, young and old, in our community. Our goal is to reach them, meet them where they are, get them excited and energized to come to church and learn of the Great Commission and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
